Secure Innovation Security Review Scheme 2026/27 Now Open

Government-supported security reviews helping UK technology businesses protect their innovation and strengthen their resilience

State2 Security is pleased to support the launch of the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) Secure Innovation Security Review Scheme as an approved reviewer.

In partnership with the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST), up to 1,000 eligible organisations will have the opportunity to take part in this part-funded scheme, currently administered by Innovate UK, the UK's innovation agency.

What is a Secure Innovation Security Review?

As part of the Secure Innovation Campaign, which was developed to help founders and leaders of innovative early-stage tech companies to protect their IP, competitive advantage, and reputation, the Security Review scheme aims to further this support by helping organisations protect their ideas, technologies, and reputations. Delivered by approved security reviewers, the reviews identify security risks — particularly from state threat actors and state backed competitors — and guide organisations to improve their protective security and integrate these security measures into their broader strategy.

Significant Government support

The scheme is focused on businesses with under 250 employees working in certain sensitive or tech sectors. The scheme is co-funded: participating organisations contribute £500, with the remaining £2,500 covered by the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade.

What does the Security Review cover?

During the scheme, Security Reviewers assess an organisation’s current protective security practices and provide expert guidance developed by the UK’s national technical authorities. The goal is not just to implement security measures, but to position security as a strategic enabler — enhancing investor and customer confidence. Each review offers a high-level overview of an organisation’s overall security posture, covering areas such as: Cyber Security, Protective Security Governance, Security Culture, Risk Management, Secure Supply Chains & Partnerships and Incident Management.
